Moujadara with Burghul (Green lentils with crushed wheat)-

Serves:
 4
       Ingredients How to?

  •  1 cup lentils rinsed
  •  3/4 cup burghul
  •  3 - 3 1/2 cup water
  •  3 onions chopped
  •  1/4 tsp mixed spices
  •  1/2 cup olive oil
  •  Salt & pepper

     
    1. Put the lentils and water in a deep pan, boil then lower the heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
    2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a separate pan and fry the onions till dark brown. Add fried onions and oil to the lentils, stir, and add spices, salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes then add the burghul, cover and simmer for 40 minutes.
    3. Take off the heat and leave to stand for 15 minutes.

      Serve hot or cold with salad or yogurt.
