General Guidelines for Glowing Skin

• Diet is very important for our existence. Our overall health depends on what we eat and how much we eat. This holds true for our skin as well. Skin gets its natural glow from within and that’s where good nutrition comes in. Eating a healthy diet which includes lot of fruits, vegetables in the form of salads and fresh juices, whole grain cereal products and milk will have a lasting impact on our skin.

• Avoid eating oily and junk foods as they tend to disturb our metabolism adversely affecting our health involving skin glow.

• Drinking lot of water also helps as it hydrates our skin cells and maintains the suppleness of our skin. Lukewarm water particularly if taken with lemon juice and honey in the morning would be of more help as it prevents constipation and improves overall health.

• Avoid excessive consumption of tea or coffee, instead go for green tea.

• Face needs to be washed every time we go out so as to remove the dirt but one should avoid the use of soaps frequently as it tends to make the skin dry. One can use gram flour to wash the face instead.

• Protect yourself from the harmful effects of UV rays whenever you go out in the sun. Wear full length clothes, apply sun screens, wear sunglasses and use a hat or umbrella while going out during day time especially between 1:00 – 4:00 PM.

• Bathe twice daily in hot summer months to wash away the sweat and accumulated sebum and to feel refresh and cool.

• Pamper your skin with regular massages and beauty treatments but make sure to stay as natural and herbal as possible. Head massages, facial, manicures, pedicures and full body massage are helpful in relaxing your stressed out bodies. Even you can try out these relaxing techniques at your own home spa with the help of your spouse or any other member.

• Follow the 4-step skin care routine everyday to get the flawless looking skin. Cleansing, exfoliating, toning and moisturizing gives you a complete skin care and has a lasting effect on your skin appearance.


 Few suggestions to get a glowing skin:

• Apply pomegranate juice daily on your face for a month and you will get good result.
• Apply a face pack of powdered orange peel mixed with rose water regularly.
• A mixture of fuller’s earth (Multani mitti), Sandalwood powder and rose water can be good face pack for oily skin. Rose water is a natural toner, sandalwood is known for its cooling effect and fuller’s earth removes the excess oil.
• Mashed Papaya applied over the dark spots or facial marks may be very effective in reducing them.
• Dandruff can lead to pimples so prevent or control dandruff.
• Mix cucumber paste into your face pack to lighten your skin color as cucumber is very effective for tanning.
• Apply steam to your face to clean your face. Applying steam with a few drops of eucalyptus oil or lemon juice can be a good remedy for black heads and white heads.
• Rice flour, mashed ripe papaya and lemon juice taken in equal ratio, mixed and applied on face. Let it dry and then wash with cold water.
• Mix in 1tbsp of gram powder, a pinch turmeric powder, a pinch of salt, and milk or curd or lemon juice to make it a paste. Apply at least 2 days a week. You'll surely see miracle on your face.
• Mix honey and banana and apply to your face for soft and glowing skin.
• Mix turmeric powder, milk cream and rice flour and apply to your face for glowing skin
• Mix 1tsp orange powder, little turmeric,1tsp rose water,1/2tsp sandal powder, apply on the face and after 15 mins wash your face with cold water.
• Grind Papaya, banana and yogurt together, apply this on clean face. Keep it for half on hour and then wash with cold water. Apply daily to get a glowing Skin.
• Add 2 tsp of besan with 4 tsp of raw milk, 1 tsp of honey and make it as a paste. Apply on your face and wash it after 20 mins. It gives you a smooth & soft glowing skin. Apply once a week.
• Add mint juice, aloe vera and curd in multani mitti. Apply it on your face and wash it with cold water when semi-dry. Pat dry your face.

Eat protein at every meal, including breakfast.
Eliminate wheat- and flour-based products for the time being.
Reduce starch to one portion a day, and don't eat that portion during your evening meal.
Apples, pears, plums and berries all are good choices. Bananas are not.
Reduce or eliminate dairy for the time being, especially cow's milk.
