Hair Health & Nourishment Guide
Hair care is surrounded by various myths. Busting these myths are the following hair care tips and facts which will ensure your hair's good health.

Pick the right products: For this you need to know your hair and scalp type. The two can be different: you might have a dry scalp and oily hair. Most salons have the equipment to check. Ask their stylist to prescribe hair products for you. If you have varying hair and scalp types - for instance, if your scalp is greasy but your tips are dry - you may need to use two shampoos, one for the roots and the other for the ends.

Don't shy away from the multiple products: Rethink basic hair care. It's no longer just shampoo and conditioner. There's also leave-in conditioner, hair masks and styling products. Consult an expert.

Factor in a hair mask: Hair masks are a sort of concentrated conditioner used for hair problems such as dryness, color damage or frizz. Use once or twice a month, or as needed. We've been using them in India for ages - remember the egg white and yoghurt your mother prescribed?

Washing Hair SOS:
There is a correct way to wash your hair and it makes a difference in the long run. Before you wash, brush your hair with a wide-toothed comb to detangle. Wet hair. Add a little water to your shampoo. Vary the spots on your scalp where you apply shampoo as it might have product build-up over the years. Massage it into your scalp with the tips of your fingers, not the flat of your hand.

Do it for about a minute. Rinse, for about three minutes. Ensure that there's no shampoo left in your hair, which could lead to a flaky scalp. Apply conditioner to the ends. Don't apply to roots and don't rub it in your hair. Rinse well. When they have dried a little, detangle with a wide-toothed comb. If you are facing a lot of hair loss, then consult a trichologist, and run a test on thyroid functioning.
