Hair Changes
As your skin ages and
your hormones change, your hair also may undergo changes. Men tend to
lose hair. After menopause, women tend to grow more facial and body
hair. Both men and women tend to lose hair color. All of these
changes are normal and do not pose medical problems. Bald spots should
be distinguished from baldness. Bald spots may be caused by repeated
stress to the hair such as tight braids or habitual hair pulling. Bald
spots that occur on a
normal scalp sometimes indicate a more serious problem. Some
medications, vitamins, and illnesses may cause hair tobreak near the
roots, change texture, or come out easily. Call your doctor if this
occurs.
When to Call a Health
Professional ?
