Dandruff
care Dandruff
occurs when skin cells flake off your scalp. This flaking is natural and
occurs all over your body. On the scalp, however, larger flakes can mix
with oil and dust to form dandruff. Dandruff cannot be cured, but it can
be controlled.
Dandruff
is an enemy of the hair. It weakens the roots. Consequently the hair
start falling off. This is a kind of contagious disease. Dandruff sticks
on the skin of the scalp in a cake form and blocks the free flow of air
to the hair roots. As a result, hair becomes weak at the roots and
loosen their hold. Using the comb, soap or brush of a person suffering
from dandruff is dangerous as it is contagious.
Many medicines and medicated
soaps and shampoos are available to counter dandruff, but the most
effective is the cleanliness of the hair. Brush your hair at least
thrice a day and shampoo once a week at least. While washing your hair,
take care that the water doesn't trickle down your face, there are
chances you may get pimples.
Here are some quick and easy
remedies for those of you suffering from this problem
- Take 6 spoonfuls water, add 2
spoonfuls pure vinegar and apply it on the scalp with cotton wool
swab before going to bed. Tie a towel around the head to protect
your pillow. Wash your head next morning. After shampooing, rinse
again with vinegar water. Continue this once a week for at least
three months.
- Massage the scalp with almond oil
and steam bathe your hair. Steam bath is taken by dipping the towel
in boiling water and wrapping it around the hair, like a turban. Do
not let the corners of your towel be wet, so that you can hold them.
When your towel gets cold, repeat it thrice or four times. Steaming
opens the scalp pores and increases the capacity of the hair to
absorb oil at its roots.
- You can also take a spoonful lemon
juice, mix it with two spoonfuls vinegar and massage on the scalp.
Wash your hair with an egg shampoo.
- Take on part almond oil, and pure
sulphur in same quantity, mix and add 'surgical spirit' in the
quantity equal to the above two. Put four parts distilled water or
rose water and rub on the scalp.
