Honeyed  Chicken Wings -
Marinated chicken pieces wrapped in paper and deep fried

       Ingredients How to?

  • Chicken wings - 16-20
  • Honey - 4 tablespoons
  • Corn flour/ corn starch - 1/2 cup
  • Garlic, crushed - 2 cloves
  • Oil - 2 tablespoons + to deep fry
  • Light soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Hoi sin sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Red chilli flakes - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds (til), toasted - 1 tablespoon

  1. Wash and pat dry the chicken wings.
  2. Mix two tablespoons of corn flour in one cup of water and reserve the rest for dusting the chicken wings. Heat sufficient oil in a wok or a pan, dust the chicken wings with the remaining corn flour and deep-fry turning frequently, for about four to five minutes. Drain on absorbent paper.
  3.  Heat two tablespoons of oil in a wok or a pan, add the garlic and stir-fry for half a minute. Immediately add the light soy sauce, hoi sin sauce, chilli flakes and salt.
  4. Add the fried chicken wings and stir in the corn flour mixture.
  5. Cook on medium to high heat for a minute, stirring continuously. Lower the heat and stir in the lemon juice and honey, mix well and cook further on medium heat for a couple of minutes.
  6. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds and serve hot.
