Chinese Toffee Apples-
Batter fried apples served dipped in caramel sauce

Apples - 4 medium
Corn flour/ corn starch - 4 tablespoons
Refined flour (maida) - 1 cup
Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Oil to deep fry
Butter - 1 tablespoon
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Sesame seeds (til), toasted - 1 tablespoon
Peel, core and cut apples into quarters and cut
each quarter lengthwise in half. Coat apple segments
thoroughly in two tablespoons of corn flour, shaking

baking powder into a bowl. Gradually stir in one and
quarter cup of water to make a smooth batter.
Heat sufficient oil in a wok, dip the apple
segments into the batter and deep fry for about a
minute or until golden brown, turning them
occasionally. Drain on an absorbent paper and keep
